Marvel Action Figures Are All Very Special

By Olivia Cross

Many people of all ages have grown up with a favourite toy, one that will never be forgotten. Whether one is a boy or girl the marvel action figures were always sitting on the shelves in bedrooms. There have even been movies made about these characters that everyone both young and old thoroughly enjoys watching.

These toys stands about three and three quarters of an inch high and are made by Hasbro, an American international toy and board game company. They are considered to be the largest toy makers and the headquarters are situated in Rhode Island. However the toys are produced in East Asia.

Dolls are much larger than either of them and will normally come with clothes that can be removed. Depending on the make of doll they are able to be posed and can usually reach twelve inches in height or even taller. They are able to have different accessories such as hand held gear, hats, handbags and weapons.

Action figures must have a certain amount of attitude to them and these are generally referred to as points of communication. They can be moved into many different positions and have many interchangeable accessories. Many collectors argue that they must be able to move the head and both shoulders. Their sizes can range from three inches to eleven inches and are only made from moulded plastic. This includes their clothes and any other addition.

Many collectors will argue that the G. I Joe figures can be classified as action or as a doll, as the first one stood about twelve inches in height and the clothes could be removed and interchanged. It was originally designed so that boys could also have a "doll" to play with. In the end if one wishes to collect any of the above it will all depend on which makes one feel the happiest.

Every collector will tell one that it is a very rewarding and extremely fun hobby. It makes one feel like a child again and will bring back great memories of favourite movies, comic books and even television shows. One must however buy very carefully as they can become an investment over time and they can be worth hundreds of dollars on the collectable market.

When Henry died in 1960 Merrill took over while his older brother carried on running the pencil making division. It was to become known as the Empire Pencils. One year later they opened up a branch in Canada where they were asked to license a toy base for a television series. They decided that it was in their best interest to turn them down as they did not want to be tied down to something that had a potential to be short lived.

In the year 1964 they produced the GI Joe toy. He was to represent the four branches of the United States Armed Forces; the United States Navy, United States Army, the United States Air Force and the United States Marine Corps. Later the Action Nurse was also introduced. These were specially made for boys who were not interested in playing with girls toys. Within two years this toy was responsible for two thirds of their overall sales.
