By Amanda Brown

Riches are not only found in the west. They are also in Africa. The richest African countries are Nigeria, Egypt, South Africa, Algeria and Morocco. The capital city, Rabat, is changing with every passing day because of the construction of new skyscrapers. Changes are also being witnessed in the countryside.

The mining sector of Morocco is at an all-time high. At no time has it performed the way that it is currently performing. That has led to the flow of investors from different parts of the world. The locals are also benefit because of the increase in the number of jobs. That has caused the constant drop in unemployment rate.

If Morocco continues developing at the rate that it is currently developing, poverty will become a thing of the past in this part of the world. It may reach a point that people in this African country may start living as people in highly developed countries like Norway and Sweden. Already, the standard of living of Morocco is pretty high.

There has also been a domino effect. Other sectors are developing as well. That is how the economy normally works. A positive in one sector means a positive on the entire chain because no industry exists on itself. There is a great interdependence all through the economy. One sector produces the raw materials, the other processes them and another offers support services.

The real estate market of Morocco is constantly rising. The expatriates who are coming to work in the mines need high quality housing. That has led to a high demand of suburban housing. Mine workers also require accommodation. Most of them choose to live in apartments. Some people like to purchase houses while others prefer the option of renting housing.

The banking and insurance sectors are developing as well. The money that is made by mining companies needs to be banked. Also, there are foreign companies that need to repatriate profits abroad. Mining also relies heavily on financing because it is a capital intensive affair. The leading banks of the world have various branches in this prosperous North African country.

Morocco does not only have minerals. It also has one of the largest fossil deposits. Early humans made Africa their home. Some of them lived in Morocco. That is why very old human fossils have been found in this corner of Africa. There are also plenty of animal fossils. Remains of prehistoric animals have been found in Moroccan cities.

Africa is not only about slums, war, and poverty. There is the good side of Africa and it is Morocco. This country is an African success story just like Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa and Egypt.
