Things To Know About Rugged Walker

By Jennifer Davis

Walking is an excellent type of exercise that people could do on their free time. This has the advantage of not needing any equipment like gyms have and the length could vary depending on what you can do. You can also do this almost anywhere but the best places to walk is somewhere full of nature and fresh air like parks or nature trails.

Nature trails have difficult and uneven pathways which are harder to traverse when compared to the parks. There are shoes specially designed for these trips called rugged walker or commonly known as hiking boots. These can withstand different conditions and can protect the feet from various elements you will encounter during your walk. Here are some things you need to know before buying the right one for you.

There are various types of boots that can be used depending on the kind of trail you would be going to and the load weight you are carrying. One of these are called hiking shoes that are low cut and have flexible midsoles compatible for short hikes in easier terrains. They should be used only for a short time because of their lightweight which may be unable to support the feet well.

Day hiking boots are usually mid cut or high cut and usually used for light backpacking trips. You can carry small loads with these but not the heavier ones because it lacks the support you need in carrying one. It also takes only a little time for your feet to feel comfortable in wearing it.

Backpacking boots are meant to be used when you are carrying heavy loads and the walking trip takes more than a day. These are good for people who are going into camping in the hills and mountains because of its durability and support. These can also be used in rougher terrains like traveling outside the trail.

The shoes are made of different components and materials that help you in walking comfortably and protects your feet as well. One of these are the uppers which could influence the durability, breathability, weight and water resistance. Another one are midsoles that cushions and buffers the feet from shock and the stiffer ones are better for uneven terrains.

Outsoles are the bottom most part of the shoes which makes contact to the land the most. It has lug patterns used to give traction and improve grip on certain grounds. It also has heel brakes which reduce the likeliness of sliding during abrupt descents and is the part of the outsole located in the heel area with a distinct cut from other areas.

The fit of the boots should be snug and not too tight to give room for your toes to move. When fitting for new shoes, do it in the afternoon after all your activities because this is usually when the feet is at its largest and also wear socks. This would help to prevent you from purchasing shoes that are a size smaller for you.

Wear it and walk around the shop to try if it fits you well and how comfortable it is. Do not use it immediately on long walks because you might sore your feet instead gradually increase the duration of wearing it to let it adjust to your feet. When purchasing online, buy the brands you have tried before to know the exact size for you.
