Types Of Church Outreach You Should Engage In

By Francis Riggs

God gave us the mandate of spreading his Word when he placed us on earth. It is our duty as Christians to ensure that we let other people know about the word. Churches have always been conducting outreaches as ways of reaching out to people. There are many types of outreaches, and so we will discuss church outreach and its types.

Every church needs to have an outreach program. It is impossible for a church to perform all the types of outreaches available in the world. God in his wisdom blessed us with unique gifts to do well in certain ministries. We can broadly categorize the outreaches to optional and essential ministries.

There are some outreaches every ministry ought to perform; they are the essential ones. On the other hand, there are those that the Word of God states that should be carried out. One of them is direct evangelism. The Bible says that all church members have to take part in telling their colleagues and other people about Christ.

World missions are essential too. Apart from directly telling your colleagues and friends about his word, God needs us to spread it beyond out home boundaries. He says in the Bible that we should go beyond our local community and go to all corners of the world to spread his word.

The needy and the poor in our society also need to know that God loves them. As Jesus was telling his followers about heaven, he told that whoever does not clothe, or shelter or feed a needy person cannot enter his kingdom. He told them that the least of their brothers are the needy, and they also ought to show love because they are his children too.

Jesus loves children, and as his disciples wanted to stop some children from seeing him, he told them to allow them. He also added that the kingdom of God belonged to them. We, therefore, have to minister to children of all ages. The enemy targets them since they are very vulnerable. We have to take the chance to save them before the enemy pounces on them.

The outreaches mentioned above are essential. Out of them, other ministries have been born including prison ministry. People in prison ought to know that God loves and cares for them. They need to feel the love of God, and his forgiveness since God forgives sin. The disabled and people in the military should also get to know about Jesus. The love of God is abundant, and his mercies never fail us, this is what we ought to preach.

The young people and youth are also vulnerable. They are easy to fall into traps the enemy has set for them. We have to be at the forefront in preventing them from happening through preaching to them. In conclusion, each and every one of us should receive Jesus in our lives in order to tell other about him. It is our mandate, and so we have no excuse.
